She replies no more
To birthday greetings
Or to Christmas wishes
I do not seem to mind
What's it that has changed
From those times, I know not
Hers seemed a smile
That would launch a thousand ships
And a laugh
That would delight even the deaf
Yet here I am
Letting that smile and laugh
Float away from me
Yet not perturbed
It does not seem at all strange
Though my heart beats the same
As when it was bleeding with emotion
Well, maybe it beats a little differently
A little more serenely.
