The Hesitation
There’s much
That eyes can say
That they can’t;
Between what is said
And what is not
Lie a lot of things
That are not understood
And tongue lies paralysed.
The Mirage
We seek it from parents and siblings
We seek it from friends and relatives
We seek it from spouses and children
In the end, we are still left wanting.
Reality Check
A 60-year-old relative died
Succumbing to breast cancer;
“Life begins at sixty”;
Sammy boy, isn’t it time
You got your act together?
That Thing
That very human need
Seeking to fulfill it
A very adult thing
Yet never satisfied
The longing increasing
No sooner than it is fulfilled
We never tire
Of being on this fool’s errand
To so many
Life seems worth living
For this pleasure by the minutes
Nothing worthwhile beyond it
Can they envisage
A poor life it is
If devoted to this passionately
Paying little heed
To what lies beyond it.
