That we do not love
Is a fact staring in one’s face
Yours truly being no exception
Our wants, preferences, opinions
Identities, beliefs, misperceptions
Prevent us from doing so
And that is not a problem
Because not being able to love
And not being loved
Are both wake-up calls.
