The breath goes
In and out
Almost unmindful
Of joy or sorrow
Of exuberance or ennui
Of indifference or love;
Everything comes and goes
Except breath,
Your constant companion;
And it keeps alive one for what
One knows not,
Ever so mechanically
The breath goes
In and out.
