“It is just an emotion”
Said she, talking about love
No, not my girlfriend, you silly
I don’t have a girlfriend
No, you are just imagining
That I said that with some regret;
That’s all we are, aren’t we
A whole lot of non-stop thoughts
Interspersed with a few emotions
Therein, in those thoughts and emotions
Lies embedded an “I” giving us company
Which knows not what it is like
To exist without a care in the world
Feeling that no harm will befall it
In this world of humans and nature
So we keep searching for love
That we feel will make us forget
The realities of this world
And delude ourselves into thinking
That love will somehow shield us
Against all the winds that will blow
And yet see this wreckage
That lies all around us.
