How AI Helped Me Make Peace with Science: A Journey Through Psychology, Medicine, and the Humanities

You may wonder why the hell I am asking such questions to AI – Are doctors a tad boring? https://selfrealization.blog/2026/04/03/are-doctors-a-tad-boring/ – and whether I have nothing better to do.

The reason for that is I am trying to work through my emotions with regard to the medical field and my relationship with my med school classmates, etc., and strangely reading through the AI responses and dwelling on the perspectives they shared has made me overcome to a large extent my psychological distaste for not just biology and medicine but also for all the natural sciences like physics (except for perhaps quantum mechanics, which I always liked), chemistry, geology, geography, astronomy, and what have you.

It is strange how our psychology hijacks us into viewing the world not as it is but as we are, maybe because we are meant to fill certain roles and functions in society and hence we have to be fooled into thinking some fields of enquiry are more interesting than others.

And, perhaps for psychologically slightly maladjusted person like me, I needed to read through the social sciences and humanities to make myself psychologically whole and healthy.
