I have worn with pleasure
Hand-me-down clothes
Given to me by my cousin
Dr. Dyapa Surender Reddy
The doc who saved many a baby
In his home town of Douglas, Georgia, USA
And seemed to be doing God’s own work
Though in a way everything is God’s own work
Nay, God’s own handiwork
Including us thinking it is our own work.
But the hand-me-downs that I no longer want
Is knowledge that is wisdom
Clothes can fit, but wisdom does not
Dig will I into myself, don’t ask how,
Dive within, though there is no without,
In this paradoxical situation that I find we are
Where logic keeps getting mocked, and derided
By reality itself and our own feelings
Let go then I will of logic and feelings
In that letting go I will let transpire
Whatever it is that will transpire
And if in such letting go I find not
Whatever truth that there be if it is at all
Well then, maybe there’s no truth
And it is all a lie that there’s a truth
And I would have discovered at last
Either the truth or the lie first-hand.
