I Lands

I am a node here on earth, here in India

Enmeshed in a network of relationships

Where there is constant exchange

Of something or the other almost daily.

None of us are sufficient unto ourselves

Insufficient in knowledge we find ourselves

Insufficient in resources we obviously are

Insufficient in power we clearly are

Insufficient in emotional regulation, oh, oh…

This insufficiency breeds families

Breeds communes, breeds societies

Breeds nations, breeds inventions

And breeds all the loves and hates.

Yet this insufficiency we breed in ourselves

By wanting to live in the I land

Not realizing, the I, the you and the he

Are but mere conventions of language

That point to nothing that is real

Except to make room for the world drama.
