I cannot get myself
To talk some things
When a friend is smiling
And happy
That life is a boon
One to be celebrated.
Though the Schopenhauerian mood
Lingers on
From decades past,
I keep quiet
To not unsettle
The sweetness of the moment
In the friend’s presence.
