Understand that “the cause of suffering is desire”.
This understanding will quieten the mind 24/7, which is what meditation is all about – that does not mean there won’t be activity, but one can then undertake any activity or interactions with people as the inevitable part of life without expecting or seeking or desiring anything from such activities and relationships, kind of nishkama karma.
And, when there is no karma to be done, just sit quietly and let time pass by without any mental movement on your part.
