Silence is not shutting of the mouth
Or the drying of the ink in the pen
Or the fingers idling on a keyboard
Silence is the background in which you rest
From which springs all thoughts and words
Issuing forth as action in the world
For who can rest like a dumb stone
Such destiny is not given to man
Save to renounce the sense of doership
And keep quiet like the eye of the storm.
