Women and Sunsets
I shunned women and sunsets
In my search for the Truth
When decades passed thus
Truth took pity on me finally
Giving me a new pair of eyes
And now I behold the Truth
Even in women and sunsets.
Lines Written on World Poetry Day — March 21, 2023
She will not forgive me
I can’t seem to forget her
What a bind to be in.
The words you didn’t say
To her, though you felt,
Are now haunting you.
You are afraid to woo her
For love should be gentle
Dove-like, and not crass.
If there is no power
In the love in your heart
To affect another heart,
Though no words are said,
Separated though hearts be
By vast distance and time
What’s that love worth?
So Near, Yet So Far
That heart does not speak
The language of this heart
Running on parallel tracks
The twain may never meet
It’s not given to every heart
That its song be heard also
To have traveled together
Whatever short a distance
Is in itself a sweet thing.
The Restlessness
What a constant, constant seeking
Life is, no respite in sight whatever
Never coming to a rest at any time
Where this whirling stops forever
Satisfy one wish and no sooner
One more awaits satisfaction
Never reaching that place ever
Where we are content forever
Only to find that in the very end
When time has run out its course
The stars in the sky shine no more
Nothing remains, everything sinks
Into that abyss from where it came.
मुसीबत
ये कैसी मुसीबत है
न इकरार कर सकते
न ही इंकार
