After a lifetime of search A lifetime of reading, thinking Discussing and debating with oneself and others It's a matter of discomfit, irony and comedy To realize That Truth lies beyond words And you have to shut the hell up To stand any chance of discovering the Truth In this lifetime.
Meanwhile, life proceeds In its usual way In the wide world Where unbeknown to themselves Everyone is searching for the truth Ok, maybe not truth But certainly happiness And the truth about where happiness lies Without realizing There is no rest until they find the Truth That happiness is their own original nature.
As for myself These days I do not answer the phone and doorbell Staying put in the bare sense of existence The sense of awareness - the "I Am" Without laying over it the various identities Such as "I am this" and "I am that" And some may say I am mocking God himself That this world s/he has created Is pretty ordinary and does not interest me But God is smart S/He keeps creating the ignorant Who will keep admiring his world But I am sure that is not his ego trip But just a way to play this game This leela So that s/he, too, can get some amusement And ward off boredom.
