We keep wanting, we keep expecting
That others would love us
But do we love others is the question
We are unwilling to face up to
And love among us humans
Is never true, never unconditional
We are forever condemned to be so
Until we find the truth
And realize there is no other
The other we loved and the other we despised
Is we ourselves dreaming them up
For this world drama to continue,
After all, where there is only love
Love itself cannot get appreciated
Only in contrast with hate
Does love’s value get recognized.
