I Smile a Hearty Laugh

This talk of mind and heart
Is of course well and good
This talk of feelings and emotions
Reason and the bull-dozing logic
But, hey, my friend, my companion
Tell me where you hope to find
That which you are searching for?
In this world? Ah, maybe, who knows
Though regarding that my heart chuckles
What can we do, the human in us
Cannot rest here, whatsoever love we find
For death overtakes us, death of various kinds
The journey never seems to end, I will be damned
If I know where it all ends, where it all ends
Without the old ending, how can something new
Begin at all, and in each ending is there a loss
That anything new can ever make up? So, in the end
Will we be left with nothing to call I, Me, Mine?
