The problem with love is two-fold:
One, the mistake one makes in thinking that loving or being loved by someone in this world will increase one’s happiness and well-being;
Second, one makes the mistake that one is in a position to advance the happiness and well-being of the other person who one loves.
Both those are wrong at some level because though it seems to be the case, at least in the short-run, that love between two people can indeed lead to those two consequences, but both in the short-run and long-run how love impacts the two people in love is determined TOTALLY by each person’s own karma.
Moreover, even love is based on the erroneous notion that happiness lies outside, which is what maya is all about.
Perhaps if one can stick to this understanding, then one can find TRUE LOVE WITHIN ONESELF, which exists in one like the perfume in a flower.
In the end, it would seem to be the case that one can ONLY BE LOVE, love as a noun and never love as a verb.
