We Have Nothing to Lose Because Nothing is Ours

The body which we now claim as ours was formed in our mother’s womb from the union of the sperm of our father and the ovum of our mother.

The sperm was not ours.

The ovum was not ours.

Then how can this body we now see be “ours”?

Similar considerations apply to the mind, plus the mind cannot function properly if the body is unhealthy (look up that Upanishadic teaching about how the body and mind are interdependent — the disciple’s memory of the Vedas goes for a toss when he fasts for 16 days).

So, we have nothing to “lose” because “nothing” belongs to us.

The only thing we “lose” or stand to lose is merely a notional thing.

The erroneous notion that there is some us to which something belongs.
