If you haven’t got it by now
I doubt if you ever will
Many ways I have tried to explain
What it is this life is all about
Perhaps you do not listen
“Blind trying to lead the blind”
Is perhaps your suspicion
What can I do
If you still say you don’t get it
What is there to get
It really is all so simple
Clay-pot, clay-pot, clay-pot
Understand that
And you are done
But no hurry
No pressure
You will get there some day
If not today
And when you get there
You will kick yourself
For taking so long
To understand something so simple
Yes, so simple
Until then carry on doing
Whatever it is that you are doing
Your meditation
Your reading of religious texts
Your discussions of politics and philosophy
Your love for literature
Your morning walks in your anxiety to be healthy
Your desire for heaven and dread of hell
You pilgrimages to holy places
Your touching of the feet of saints
Your visits to the temples
And your disdain for your neighbour.
