God Has a Good Sense of Humour

Here He is, almost threatening

No, but not in a human way

More by letting me realize

Gently, gently, gently

The passage of time

And what awaits me

My hair greys

Not all at once overnight

But gradually, gradually

Like the day recedes into the night

My gumline starts to recede

Gradually, gradually, gradually

Due to the toothbrush and karma

But there is always false teeth

To adorn the face again

Dentists are kind

Then what about the cataract

Developing gradually, gradually, gradually

No problem, God knew this would happen

He has made arrangements for me in advance

By inspiring docs to become ophthalmologists

The list goes on, if you know what I mean

But the curious thing amidst all this

Is the way the heart carries on

Boldly, unmindfully, hopefully

Preparing itself to meet

Love round the corner

In an ordinary way, with no fireworks

Why does God keep the heart young

When he is less kind to the rest of the body parts

Ah, naughty boy that he is

He does not want us to forget Him

Amidst all this carnage

Ah, how narcissistic He is.
