God is also part and parcel of this dream world of ours. When we wake up from the dream called World, we realise only we exist as Brahman or Pure Consciousness (that is, Consciousness without any contents) – no God, no World. Who then is God? God is only Brahman with power of Maya (that is, power of illusion), to create the illusion called world, populated by us jivas, that is, individual souls, who have forgotten that they are Brahman and are labouring under the delusion that they are merely the name-and-form called the body-mind. So, in effect, our true or real nature is equivalent to that of God in his essence, without Maya, namely, Brahman or Pure Consciousness – hence, the mahavakya “Tat Tvam Asi” (That Thou Art). Thus, we are one with God, unbenknownst.
