Sad it is, so very sad it is
Life I can’t take seriously
No, I am not melancholic
Nor a smoker nor alcoholic
I have no need for the couch
Quite willing to let hours pass
With no one for company
My eyes do not wet my face
No matter how absurd life is
Neither its joys I crave for
Nor its sorrows scare me.
Sad it is, so very sad it is
Nothing I can take seriously
Not even that enlightenment
Or what the Buddha sought
I’m pretty tired of this maze
No, I do not want to look at
The moon or stars at night
And fall into deep reveries.
Sad it is, so very sad it is
I cannot take myself seriously.
Yet, so very liberating it is.
