I left India at 22. First in my generation. My parents mortgaged their house so I could study literature in England, the one thing my family’s plan had no room for.

I spent six years in the UK becoming the person I was supposed to be all along.

Then I came back. And spent a decade not recognising myself in the country I grew up in.

Alcoholism. Financial ruin. Isolation. A publishing house started with zero capital. Sobriety, rebuilt one day at a time. And then Covid, which didn’t destroy me. It destroyed everything that was not needed.

What survived was one idea I’ve been carrying since I first walked into a literature class at 20:

Serious people with serious things to say deserve a serious path to writing their book.

That idea became Author’s Forge.

I’m 46. Still building. Still in the fight.
